The First 48 Hours: What You Should Do As Soon As You Move In
Moving in can be chaotic, but your first day in the dorm sets the tone for everything that follows. Trust me, you want that tone to be chill—not stressed.
When I first moved in, I didn’t unpack smart. I ended up digging through boxes every morning and crashing in an unmade bed at night. Not ideal.
Here’s how to avoid that:
1. Unpack your bedding first—comfort first, always.
2. Meet your RA—this person is your go-to for everything dorm-related. They aren't just there to yell at you because your loud and occasionally catch them dozing off at midnight
3. Tour the floor—find the bathroom, laundry, emergency exits.
4. Set up your Wi-Fi/devices—no signal = no Netflix = instant regret.
Bonus: Don’t try to do it all start with one thing and make steps forward . Just pick one area clothes, desk, or hygiene and get it done.
This isn’t just move-in day, it’s the start of your college chapter. Make it smooth, make it fun, and start strong.
